Description
Bat Black Plant, Tacca Chantieri is an exotic plant with flowers that mimic a bat in flight, deep purple with ruffled wings, and long, hanging filaments. Indoor blooms and those outside in semi-tropical climates may appear in spring and last until early autumn. Black Bat flowers are quite visually stunning, with a dramatic, gothic air, perfect for a haunting garden during the months leading up to Halloween.
Keep the bat flower's soil consistently moist; a saucer beneath it will help insure this. Fertilize with a soluble orchid fertilizer bi-weekly or with a slow release fertilizer as needed. This plant requires a humid climate to survive; when grown indoors it will appreciate being misted with water regularly
LIGHT
The flowers need shade with indirect light. Indoors, this can be an eastern or western window outside of direct morning or evening rays or a northern window. Avoid southern windows. Outdoors, consider planting them under an awning or a larger tree or bush
